Tutoring– Find opportunities to tutor on campus. Check out writing centers, ESL services, or ask your major department if you would like to tutor students studying the same major as you.
Student organizations– Some students organizations are particularly focused on volunteering. Seek out these organizations and ask how to get involved.
Local community– Explore the local community surrounding your campus and try to find ways to help out. Check out the library or even the schools and see if you can volunteer there.
Organize a coat drive– With the holiday season upon us — and if you live in the Midwest — winter is coming! Organizing a coat drive can really help out people in need. Check and see if your university or a student organization is already organizing a drive and collaborate with them. Other than a coat drive, you can also have a food drive or even a toy drive that will help people in need.
Mentoring– If you have lots of free time on your hands, finding mentorship opportunities are a great way to help younger students. Organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of America are always looking for upperclassmen to serve as mentors for younger students, in particular, students of minority backgrounds.
