Abel Montoya is the Director of Outreach operations at the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) – the state agency that administers over $450 million annually in grants and scholarships to students in Illinois. Abel hires, trains, and oversees the ISACorps, which is comprised of recent college graduates placed throughout the state and serve as near-peer mentors to students as they navigate the college going process and how to pay for college.
He has worked for 25 years in higher education in the fields of undergraduate admissions and financial aid at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), respectively.
